Psychotherapy

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Are you trying to figure out which came first for you, the depression/anxiety or the substance abuse/addiction? I’m trained and specialize in distinguishing between the two and finding a treatment plan for both. I take a collaborative approach with my clients and see our relationship as a partnership. I meet each client where they are individually and work from that point. I’m here to help you change your thought process and your behaviors so you can live a healthy and content life.

As a professional therapist, my role is to guide you as you take steps towards positive life changes, healing, and a healthy mind. Together we’ll work to uncover and better understand life’s challenges and day-to-day stressors that detract from your life and focus, and begin identifying and practicing things that will make you stronger.

It’s my goal to offer practical resources that clients can put into practice immediately in their lives. I use both modern approaches and tried and true methods.

AcuDetox

Individuals trained through NADA apply up to five fine-gauge, sterilized, one-time use stainless steel needles just under the skin at designated points in each ear. The needles remain there 30-45 minutes.

The procedure functions as an adjunct within a comprehensive treatment program that offers other therapeutic elements including counseling, education, family involvement, mutual support group involvement, and supportive medical health care. Clients in all types of treatment settings including inpatient, outpatient, incarcerated, shelters, harm reduction and street outreach can utilize this treatment. Among the benefits reported by both clients and clinicians are improved program retention, a more optimistic and cooperative attitude toward the process of recovery, as well as reductions in cravings, anxiety, sleep disturbance and need for pharmaceuticals.

The NADA protocol is also commonly referred to as: acudetox, acupuncture detoxification, five point ear acupuncture protocol, five point protocol, 5NP.

LPC Supervision

I am dedicated to providing my interns with real-world, down to earth supervision in a relaxed environment. I feel that a genuine respect for each other is necessary. I do not intend to show you or tell you how to do psychotherapy. I can only help you to discover who you are as a therapist. I pride myself on being genuine; I am both gentle and probing. I have used a variety of different orientations within my roles as a psychotherapist, including relational-cultural, cognitive-behavioral, Rogerian, psychodynamic, and solution-focused.

Helping my supervisees find their own path and counseling style that incorporates their core beliefs and personalities, while maintaining an ethically sound practice is fun and exciting for me and a job I take very seriously!
